Position Title: Pitch Roofer/ Pitch Foreman (Tiers 1-3)

Employment Status: ☐ Exempt (salaried) or ☒ Nonexempt (hourly)
Salary Range: Tier 1: $18–$20/hour, Tier 2: $21–$25/hour, Tier 3: $26–$30/hour
Overview: The Roof Installer role spans three tiers, progressing from a reliable, entry-level team member to a skilled, independent roofer capable of leading crews. Roof Installers embody Pfeifer’s core values, prioritize safety, and deliver high-quality roofing work. Responsibilities grow with each tier, building on prior skills to ensure efficiency, precision, and client satisfaction. Foreman tier dependent on experience and ability to perform the additional responsibilities outside the realm of installing roof materials.

Tier 1: Foundational Skills- Technical Skills
• Proficiently uses company applications for timekeeping and job tracking
• Master of essential roofing tasks, including:
o Job Preparation
Moves exterior furniture
Protects landscaping, equipment, and garage doors
Sets up danger tape and Pfeifer brand visibility on job sites
o Roofing Process
Removes existing roofing materials
Installs underlayment, ice and water shield, and perimeter flashings (gable and drip edge)
o Job Cleanup
Cleans roof, gutters, and grounds
Uses a magnet roller to ensure a debris-free site
o Assists crew by:
Gathering and loading materials
Feeding shingles to installers
Maintaining a clean and organized work area
Tier 2: Advanced Skills
o Prerequisites: Fully proficient in all Tier 1 standards
Technical Skills
• Installs new plywood and fascia
• Repairs dry rot as directed by Tier 3 or higher team members
• Installs shingles with consistent quality
• Refines flashing details, including:
o Valleys
o Walls
o Steps
o Skylights
o Chimneys
o Pipe and vent penetrations
o Base flashings
Performance Goals
Delivers reliable, high-quality installations
Increases individual productivity (squares per day)
Tier 3: Expert Skills & Leadership
• Prerequisites: Fully proficient in all Tier 1 and Tier 2 standards
Expert Roofing Skills
• Lays out roofs for multiple crew production zones
• Meets manufacturer detailing requirements, including reading roofing plans
• Installs shingles efficiently (6–10 squares daily) without sacrificing quality or safety
• Builds and roofs all cricket types
• Installs skylights from scratch
• Identifies and repairs dry rot independently
• Recognizes existing roofing products (panels, fascia, trim, siding, soffit)
• Selects appropriate fasteners for all roof applications
• Fabricates and installs all flashing types in the field
• Delivers clean, aesthetically pleasing finish work (e.g., caulking)
• Performs siding and soffit repairs (excluding stucco)
Problem-Solving & Quality Control
• Identifies and resolves field issues, meeting company quality standards
• Provides clear 1-3-1 reports (problem, options, recommendation) to the Superintendent
Leadership & Management
• Takes charge in the foreman’s absence, ensuring:
o Efficient, safe, and clean job setup
o Daily use of JobNimbus (work order reviews, form completion, clear/specific photos)
o Accurate crew timesheet completion
o Timely reporting of material shortages to the Superintendent
• Clear, positive communication with Superintendent, clients, and crew
• Verification of all required job materials on-site
• Company trucks stocked with tools and materials daily
• Preferably holds a clean driving record to operate company vehicles

Work Environment:
Roof Installers work in various outdoor conditions and must be comfortable with:
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, heights, and airborne particles.
• Working in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
• Frequent exposure to vibrations and loud noise levels.
• Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and the risk of electrical shock.
• A fast-paced and safety-focused job site.
The duties of the Pitch Roofer/Foreman position may be reasonably modified occasionally at Pfeifer Roofing,
